| Item Description: | This volume contains the books of Psalms and Proverbs from the 1617-1618 edition of a complete Bible in 16º printed in Geneva by Pierre de la Rovière (Kafa Elon). Library also holds another volume of the same edition containing the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezechiel, Daniel and Ezra-Nehemiah. Title page mistakenly mentions Ecclesiastes and Song of Songs also (they are not present). The book of Proverbs has its own title page. Written on verso of front endleaf: 'Liber Psaloru[m] et Proverbior: Solomon:' with several scribbles, a crossed out [name] in an elaborate border and 'Jones' written on its recto. Woodcut of 'Edynburg' pasted onto front pastedown. Small number of annotations, including headings and numbers and manicules. Writings on back endleaf including: 'John Usher', 'Smithe' and '[Jon White]'. |
