Leaf and floral border, concave lozenge inlaid in maroon with diamond surround of marbled paper within outer diamond border of cream vellum which has a double greek-key roll. Foliate roll border. Flat spine gold-tooled to six compartments separated by five green onlaid strips. Tooling in the style of William McKenzie. Marbled endleaves and gilt edges. Saunders tentatively assigned this binding to William Hallhead of 63 Dame Street, Dublin whose widow married William McKenzie in 1783. |
