31. Edward Jorden, A Discourse of Natural Bathes, and Mineral Waters… To which is added, An Appendix concerning Bathe, 3rd edn, (London, 1669).
The English physician and chemist Edward Jorden (d.1632) was educated at Oxford, Cambridge and Padua. In his medical practice in the city of Bath, he treated Queen Anne, the wife of King James I, during her visits to the city. This book, first published in 1631, examined the medical properties of mineral waters and natural baths.
There are at least 22 surviving copies of this third edition of the book, mainly in the UK and USA. This copy was purchased in February 1926 to replace one noted as missing from the Library in 1828.
