Butler 11<sup>th</sup> July 1780" 1797: "This year the Princess Royal was married to the Prince of Württemberg" and in a different [20th century] hand below "S Watson 1797" 1801 - Bookplate of Charles Andrew Caldwell (motto: Ense libertatem Petit Inimico Tyranis) front pastedown. Inscription on conjugate flyleaf: "Nicholas Ellis from C. B. Caldwell/ 3 Audley Square An. D. 1859/ from his father's library a memorial of a long friendship between them."
