Extensively annotated throughout in Latin, including on front endleaf, with manicules, doodles, underlining and passages marked with trefoils and other symbols. Examples of doodles include a small drawing of a long-haired man beside where Pope Anicetus reportedly decreed that no priest should wear his hair long and a face in the initial of Leo III. Also includes manuscript headings. | Binding Note: | Mid-brown [sheep] with narrow double fillet lines around periphery of boards and narrow double fillet lines parallel to spine. Back board shows evidence of repair. Rebacked with 'Platinae in vit: Pont:' gold tooled in second compartment. Four bands and five compartments on spine, with wide fillet lines on and wide double fillet lines below and above bands. Newer endleaves. |
