Bound With:Inserted is a letter and envelope (both blue paper) to Edmund Downey, The Waterford News, O Connell St, Waterford from Douglas Hyde (signed 'An Craoibhín'), June 9 1919, where he states 'I would indeed be only too glad to send you a story if I have one, but the fact is that I never write stories, at least not in English and its ill taking that breaks off a Hill - [audman]. Also I was very ill all last year and did no writing at all. I am now much better. b. le. Dea, but I am not doing very much, and have abandoned public life altogether. I hope your magasine may be a great success, but I thought printing and paper were too dear for anything ...'
