Other numbers written in ink on the pages have been crossed out. Printed page numbers (3 and 4) crossed out on the top of the pages. Part of the text is underlined. Annotated in the margin at the end of the text : "été soufferts, exercés leur ministère, ou faire leur […] au préjudice de nostre propre Edit, à l’exécution du quel nous enjoignons nos [exprès ? …] à nos procureurs généraux et leurs substituts d’y avoir la main et de poursuivre exactement les [contrevenants ?]". It is probably the continuation of the printed text copied by hand. Summary of the text: In this Edict, the king welcomes the numerous conversions of Protestants to the Catholic religion and blames Protestant ministers for preventing some of these conversions because they have accumulated too much influence over their disciples over time. The king therefore decides to limit the exercise of these ministers to three years in the same place, and they cannot return there before twelve years spent more than twenty "lieux" away. |
