Binding Note:Binding: contemporary Irish red morocco gold-tooled to a panel design. The spine has five bands and six compartments; title on tan onlay in the second, date onlaid at the foot, the five other compartments are gold tooled, marbled endleaves and gilt edges.

In addition to the charter this account also includes the letter of Charles II for erecting the hospital, the reports of the surveyor-general to the committee appointed by the Lord Lieutenant, the King's letter providing for additional adjoining land to be made available to the hospital at Kilmainham; the site was then part of the Phoenix Park. There is a list of the first governors. The governors at the time (1725) are also named. There is a detailed account of the cost of building the hospital; the total was �32,695. Annual cost of running the hospital in 1725: Officers' salaries �1,003, servants' wages �337 10s., food�2,867 06s., other expenses including clothing, medicines and general maintenance �7,984 05s., details are given.
