Binding Note:Binding: Contemporary gold-tooled polished red morocco, probably English. Border rolls, and rolls and covers tooled all-over; the design built around a series of curved branches emanating from the centre. The spine has five bands and six compartments, with the title tooled in the second. Comb-marbled endleaves and gilt edges. Upper joint split, otherwise a very bright binding.
Bibliography:58 unnumbered leaves, 9 of them blank. Copperplate hand, with ornamental headings. Written horizontally. Neatly ruled and pages outlined in red. John Plumtre bookplate. A very fine manuscript. Addressed to the Lord Lieutenant, the Earl of Wharton. A civil list of public offices of state, the government and the judiciary, custom officials for Dublin and other listed ports. A pension list is included. The military list was headed by the Lord Lieutenant whose pay was £6,593. Figures are given on the cost of maintaing the regiments, garrisons and barracks (35 for horse and 227 for foot). An establishment for the subsistence of the army for 1705 is also given. There is a list for the annual charge of the Royal Hospital. The total is £5,530 included staffing, services, maintenance, food, tobacco, clothing, fuel and lighting.
