An attempt to analyse the history of the religious conflict in Ireland, reflecting particularly the viewpoint of the aggrieved Protestants. It is an attempt also to reach the underlying causes of Catholic animosity, and a plea for greater tolerance. The arguments are presented in the form of a mock trial of the Catholics. There are frequent references to the important historians , particularly those involved with the 1641 rebellion; Temple Borlaise and the Earl of Castlehaven and Peter Walsh. Sir William Petty's statistics are also used.
