The first paragraph and the last sentence of the printed text have been crossed out. These pages are taken from the book “Etat des reformés en France, v.3 : apologie du projet des reformés de France" by Claude Brousson published in La Haye, chez Barent Beeck, 1685. Summary of the text: This letter addressed to the king accuses those around him of keeping him in ignorance of what is really happening to his Protestant subjects. The author returns to the various sufferings inflicted on Protestants, notably by the Governor of the province of Languedoc or the Jesuits, and asks the king for help in order to be able to have a job and exercise their religion freely. |
